Disney World in March: Ultimate Trip Planning Guide

March is spring break season at Walt Disney World, so it’s not an ideal month for adult-only trips. There are lots of kids (and therefore crowds) in the theme parks, and the higher demand for accommodations and flights usually makes a Disney World trip more expensive this month. Read on to learn everything else you need to know if you’re planning to visit in March.

March Events & Holidays

As mentioned above, U.S. spring break is the major event that impacts prices and crowd levels. EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival also kicks off in March and is a wonderful way to celebrate spring. This festival continues into late May or early June (depending on the year), so there is plenty of time to sample food, enjoy the flowers, view topiaries and listen to concerts.

St. Patrick’s Day is the only holiday that is consistently celebrated in March, but it doesn’t impact Disney World crowds. If you happen to be visiting at this time, consider celebrating at Raglan Road’s St. Patrick’s Day Festival in Disney Springs.

Depending on the year, Easter can also fall in March. Many countries have Easter breaks, which brings large international crowds to Disney World. It’s good to avoid a trip around this holiday.

2025 Event Dates

  • International Flower & Garden Festival (March 5 – June 2, 2025)
  • Daylight Saving Time starts (March 9, 2025)
  • Raglan Road St. Patrick’s Day Festival (March 14-17, 2025)
  • Spring Break for schools near Disney World (March 17-21, 2025)

Crowds

Disney World in March is crowded. The first week of the month is better, but it’s generally crowded all month long. Adults trips are more enjoyable if you’re able to visit Disney World when kids are in school.

March Weather

High temperatures climb into the 70s and 80s in March, but it can be cool at night (average lows are in the 50s). Rainfall also tends to be low so you may not need a poncho or rain jacket. Check the forecast before your trip and plan accordingly.

Another important consideration is high tree pollen (and potentially high grass pollen). It’s an uncomfortable month in Florida if you have spring allergies. Start taking medication two to four weeks before your trip to get it in your system (or visit in a different month).

What to Wear

You might be eager to wear shorts, t-shirts and tank tops, but you’ll also need to pack pants, long-sleeved shirts and a jacket or sweatshirt. It can get chilly at night, especially early in the month. Hats are also important for protecting your face from UV radiation (which is more intense in Florida compared to most places in the United States).

Otherwise, bring swim gear if you plan to go to a water park, get in a swimming pool or soak in a hot tub. We tend to not bring swimsuits in March due to the variable weather. It’s also extremely helpful to have water sandals for water parks, water rides and rainy weather. Be sure to also have a pair of comfortable walking shoes (closed toe) for cool mornings and evenings.

Planning Tips

  • A March trip to Disney World is more doable if rides aren’t your focus. You can check out EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival and theme park attractions like exhibits, films and live shows. Exploring Disney Springs, Disney resorts and nightlife activities are also great options.
  • If there are must-do rides on your list, it’s a good idea to purchase Lightning Lane passes to skip the lines. An alternate is to buy tickets for an After Hours event (instead of a full-day theme park ticket).
  • Stay at a deluxe resort to get extended evening hours on select dates. You may want to plan your trip (or at least your itinerary) around this perk.
  • Visit Disney World after Daylight Saving Time begins for more daylight in the theme parks.
  • Book your flight and/or accommodations as far in advance as possible to save money. Room rates at some hotels increase $100 or more last minute during spring break season.
