Considering a trip to Disney World in February? It’s a great option for experiencing early spring weather before spring break crowds arrive. However, it’s more crowded than in previous years due school winter breaks. You’ll also want to avoid the Half Marathon and Presidents Day weekends. Here’s everything you need to know about events, weather, what to wear and more.
February Events & Holidays
EPCOT’s International Festival of the Arts takes place during most of February (except at the end of the month). Be sure to check out the concert series (Disney on Broadway) and outdoor food booths for a variety of small bites and drinks. Additionally, there are artists, art displays and art activities to check out.
Presidents Day is a three-day weekend in the middle of the month. Flights and resorts can more expensive around this time due to increased travel demand, so book your flights and accommodations in advance for the best prices.
The other major event in February is the Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend, which takes place in the second half of the month. Sign up early if you want to run the half marathon or 5K, otherwise you may want to avoid visiting Disney World at this time due to an influx of people on Disney property.
2026 Event Dates
- International Festival of the Arts (TBD)
- Presidents Day (Feb. 16, 2026)
- Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend (Feb. 26-March 2, 2026)
Crowds
Avoid the Disney Princess Half Marathon and Presidents Day weekends to save money on your hotel/resort/flights and have fewer crowds in the theme parks. This means planning your trip in the first half of the month if you want to explore the International Festival of the Arts. Otherwise, visit Disney World at the end of February, especially for warmer weather.
We recommend checking resort prices and flights on different dates to find the most affordable (and less crowded) time to visit. If flights are expensive and availability is limited for Disney resorts and nearby hotels, it’s a good indication that more people than normal will be visiting Walt Disney World.
February Weather
Disney World weather is variable in February except for the rainfall (which is minimal). There is often a mix of warm and cool days with the average high temperature 72°F and average low 49°F (source). The humid climate makes it feel colder than you might expect, especially when the sun goes down, so visit at the end of the month for warmer temperatures (low 80s possible highs).
What to Wear
Wearing layers is key in February, especially as it might be cool in the morning or at night (but warm during the day). Tank tops, short-sleeve and long-sleeve shirts that wick away moisture are solid base layers. Fleece jackets and sweatshirts are also wonderful to have on cool days along with a lightweight jacket or windbreaker. Both pants and shorts are appropriate; check the weather forecast before your trip and pack accordingly.
If you plan to get into a hot tub or pool (Disney World pools are heated), don’t forget to bring a swimsuit and flip flops or sandals. Otherwise, you’ll want plenty of socks and one or two pairs of good walking shoes to keep your feet warm and comfortable. Walking sandals (Teva, Chaco and Sketchers are great brands) are also nice to have on warmer days.
Planning Tips
- One park per day tickets are a better value than park hoppers if you don’t want to be outside when the sun goes down.
- Celebrate Presidents Day by visiting the Hall of Presidents in Magic Kingdom (pictured top of page). The American Adventure in EPCOT is also a must-do.
- It might be warm enough to have a pool day. You can visit Disney Springs before or after relaxing in the sun.
- February is a great month for kayaking, horseback riding and bike rides at one of several Disney World resorts (Fort Wilderness has all three).
- Tree pollen starts increasing in February, so if you have allergies, be sure to bring medication and start taking it before your trip to get it into your system.
- Make dinner reservations or plan to visit the signature or fun-themed restaurants on property with walkup seating after dark, especially on cool days.
- If you don’t like cold weather, consider staying at a resort that doesn’t require walking outside to get to your room. Two of the most affordable options are typically the Swan & Dolphin resorts on Disney’s Boardwalk. Other resorts to consider include the Contemporary, Riviera, Yacht Club, Beach Club, Wilderness Lodge and Animal Kingdom Lodge.
